How we find coverage.

Standard commercial markets

We approach insurers whose underwriting criteria fit your business. Available products vary by industry and state, so we confirm eligibility before pursuing a quote.

Wholesale & specialty placement

FirstChoice and specialist wholesale partners help us find options for unusual risks, hard-to-place businesses and higher coverage limits. We explain whether access is direct or through a partner, and compare the terms offered.

Alternative risk resources

When a captive or another way of financing risk may be appropriate, we can involve captive managers, actuaries and legal advisers. We agree on the scope of any feasibility study or implementation work before it begins.

An insurer relationship does not guarantee eligibility or a quote. We explain the relevant markets, how we access them and any material placement considerations.

Questions & answers

Questions about market access.

Does market access mean a direct appointment?
Not always. A brokerage may access an insurer directly or through an authorized intermediary. We explain the applicable placement route for your account.
Why consider an E&S market?
An E&S insurer may offer coverage or higher limits when a risk does not fit a standard insurer's criteria. The label alone does not tell you whether a policy is suitable. We review the insurer, policy wording, restrictions and placement requirements.
How is the brokerage compensated?
Insurance placement may involve insurer-paid commission, disclosed fees or both. Ask for the compensation and any applicable charges to be explained before you decide.
